The Michael Cahill Collection
The Michael Cahill Collection was received by Robert Rauch and hotelguru.com as a gift from Michael Cahill. Mr. Cahill, Founder and CEO of HREC and Chair of the Lodging Industry Investment Council, has collected these postcards from iconic hotels.
Many of the postcards were mailed by guests and preserved professionally by Mr. Cahill. We endeavor to be the best stewards of the collection.
Featured are hotels like the nearly 800-room Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado, a suburb of San Diego. The resort is on the sand and has been completely renovated and restored to a very high quality, almost 5* resort.
The La Valencia in La Jolla is a boutique resort, boasting fewer than 100 rooms. The historic luxury landmark is known as the Pink Lady, a 1928, Spanish-tiled mural by artist Ernest Batcheler, which depicts a lady in a traditional pink dress.
Other notable featured San Diego hotels include the U.S. Grant Hotel and Colonial Inn (now the Grande Colonial), The Hilton in Long Beach, the Metropole and Boardwalk hotels in Catalina Island.
