Economic sanctions against North Korea: Will they work?

Question: Are economic sanctions an effective tool to prevent war with North Korea?

Bob’s Answer: Yes

YES: These harshest-ever new sanctions are a strong first step. China voted for the measure and that is good news. Now we must cut off access to Chinese and Russian money as well as oil for North Korea’s military. Further, we must involve South Korea, Japan and China in beginning to denuclearize North Korea by substantially reducing their nuclear capacity and research program—not as we did in Iran with holes in the agreement.
